New Kirby: Planet Robobot Trailer Blasts Off

Nintendo has released an awesome new trailer for their upcoming game, Kirby: Planet Robobot for the Nintendo 3DS.

The trailer features some of Kirby’s new abilities available courtesy of his giant pink robot suit. Kirby is seen shooting fireballs at his enemies as well as using the suit to actually push some of the level’s obstacles out of his way. Some menacing looking buzz saws and blow torches are displayed as well. Kirby: Planet Robobot has the titular character protecting his home world. The coming invaders want to turn Kirby’s home into a mechanized, industrial wasteland. In order to fight back Kirby dons the Robobot Armor.

Kirby: Planet Robobot’s new features revolve around the pink guy’s suit of robot armor. The suit will be able to transform into a jet – among other things – and scan and copy the moves of nearby enemies. However, it wouldn’t be a Kirby game if he wasn’t able to inhale his enemies as well. Long time Kirby developers, HAL Laboratory, look like they are trying to keep the Kirby formula in tact, while giving him something new to play with as well. The robot looks to be a natural extension of Kirby and enhances his power stealing abilities.

Aside from the single player mode, there will be a RPG-typle, multiplayer mode with Team Kirby Clash. The mode is a four player brawl where the players will choose a role and then level their characters up. The co-op will use the handheld’s Download Play mode.  The game will also be compatible with several of Nintendo’s Amiibos, including the new Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede and Waddle Dee Amiibos. Check Nintendo’s official site for more information.

The game was released, in Japan, on April 28th and became the top selling game of that month. Kirby: Planet Robobot will be available on June 10th in the United States.
