The Battlefield 3 teaser trailer was shown yesterday and left a lot of fans scrambling for more information, and here it is! We have uncovered some new details about 2011’s hottest game release including the official box art, in-game locations and the apparent contents of an upcoming Limited Edition.
You can check out the official boxart below, which was revealed in an official announcement post made on the Battlefield Blog. In addition, the following information was posted on the Australian version of the Official Web Site:
Battlefield 3 leaps ahead of the competition with the power of Frostbite™ 2, the next instalment of DICE’s cutting-edge game engine. This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering superior visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and incredibly lifelike character animations. Now for those who don’t know, Frostbite 2 does take full advantage of DX11 and 64-bit processors, however DX9 is not supported. Long story short, Windows XP will not be supported.
Further details posted on the Australian site announce the key features of the game, confirming the return of destruction in Battlefield 3. The features list also reveals the locations in which the game will take place.

Another whammy that got leaked was on the actual poster itself, which hints at EA’s latest charging scheme:

This themed expansion pack features four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals. Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements / trophies, and more. For those who don’t pre-order to secure the limited edition, Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand expansion content will be available for purchase approximately one month after the game’s release.
We must add that this news has not been officially confirmed by EA, but it is a possibility that EA may be charging players who do not pre-order for those extra maps.
