A New Addition to Amazon Prime Will Offer Great Benefits For Gamers

Amazon Prime

Amazon announced a new addition to their Amazon Prime service yesterday; a service that offers members a 20% discount on all video game pre-orders and new releases.

This appears to be a permanent addition to the Amazon Prime subscription service. This is likely an answer to similar programs offered by Best Buy and GameStop. The online retailer defines a new release window as the first two weeks after the initial launch of a game. The service can be used for physical copies of games, including special editions. Although, this offer does not apply to console bundles. Customers will not see the discount on the purchased product until checkout.

Amazon Prime

This new service is likely an answer to similar programs offered by Best Buy and GameStop. Best Buy’s Gamers Club Unlocked program offers various perks to members including 20% off the purchase of all new video games for just $29.99 for two years. Likewise, GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards Pro program costs $14.99 per year and comes with a subscription to Game Informer magazine, but does not provide members with discounts on new products, only the occasional used games promos.

Amazon is including this as part of their Amazon Prime service that costs $99.99 per year. While this is much pricier than the competition, Amazon Prime is a much more robust package that offers benefits like the Prime video and music streaming services, free two-day shipping on most orders, and unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos.

Amazon is throwing its hat into the ring with its new addition to Amazon Prime. With all of the services out there providing gamers with great deals on new games, we can honestly say that it’s a great time to be a gamer.
