Nostalgia, here we come! Any RPG lover probably remembers Neverwinter Nights, that BioWare hit from 2002 that took us on an incredible voyage through the Forgotten Realms. If you were thinking of revisiting the classic, or even give it the first try, this is probably the best chance you’ll get.
Beamdog, a studio made up of several ex-BioWare employees, has announced that they are releasing an “enhanced” version of the game. It is coming for PC and it seems it will cost around $20. There is no release date yet but the announcement trailer sent shivers all over our spines.
Neverwinter Nights Gets an Overhaul
Truth be told, this is not a crazy, full HD remake but rather, an improved version of the original. Beamdog is adding here new UI frames, scaling the menu up to 4K and multiple new effects: depth-of-field, post-processing and pixel shaders. However, for the price you get, you may as well go along with this one. This version is even compatible with all the old saves you may still have.
In terms of content, this Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition includes all the base game plus expansions. Basically, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark, Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons, Wyvern Crown of Cormyr plus two in-game soundtracks. All in all, plenty of hours of content through an acclaimed single-player campaign, full of memorable moments and encounters. If you would like to be in the loop about its release, don’t forget to pre-order it or add it to your wish list on Steam.
