Yesterday, Netflix released part one of Marvel’s Daredevil season two trailer; revealing two new characters, and some interesting plot details.
The trailer offers the first look at the antagonist of season two, Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. The anti-hero is being played by the imposing Jon Bernthal –The Walking Dead and Fury. After losing his wife and daughter, the Punisher acts as judge, jury and executioner sparing no one and employing a violent, militaristic finality in his war on crime in Hell’s Kitchen. A stark contrast to the protagonist of the series, Daredevil (Matt Murdock), played by Charlie Cox.
The Daredevil season two trailer introduces the overlying themes of the season; examining the consequences of Murdocks’s actions, as well as, his methods. Questioning how much he can sacrifice, and if his masochistic selfishness is just a “half-measure.” In addition, the fantastic writing, brutality, and the masterfully shot Hell’s Kitchen returns in season two’s trailer.
Taking a queue from comic books, part one of the season two trailer ends with the revealing of a well-known Daredevil character. Part two will be released on February 25th, 2016.
Marvel’s Daredevil season two will be available to stream on Netflix March 8th of this year.
