NCAA Football 12 Demo Impressions

He’s going, going, gone, TOUCHDOWN!!!

Fanatics, it’s almost that time of the year again, football season! EA Sports are delivering yet another college football title, NCAA Football 12. With this years’ cover athlete, former Alabama running back, Mark Ingram, this title looks to be another added success to the franchise. When watching gameplay, NCAA 12 will catch your eye ,but what about the actual playing? I got a hands on experience from playing the demo so, I could tell you everything you’ll need to know.

As soon as you are brought to the menus, you’ll notice that the menus looks very well. Its easily navigated through ,and the design is done nicely. The menus look good ,but the in-game presentation is what got me excited. The way that the players are presented feels very real. The mascot, the crowd, and the band are showcased in way to bring life to the college atmosphere. One flaw is the commentators, the lack of excitement, boring jokes, and unnecessary references can become very tiresome.

The gameplay has been improved also, the tackling has a more real feel an  it involves momentum to decide the faith of a play. The catching takes more skill, and the A.I. for the defense has improved. I did however encounter a problem with the play-action plays, every time you run a (PA) play there is a stoppage between the fake and the carryout of the play. Which gives the CPU an easy tackle for loss, the CPU never bites on the fake, their just in your face as the fake progresses.

The visuals weren’t a problem, I had little to any problems with the graphics or lightning. The replays, team intros, and player models were all fine in my eyes. Even the grass has been updated from the clunky green blobs, to a rich freshly coated 3D grass.

All in all, NCAA Football 12 looks to be very solid. Thanks to the demo, I think I will either use Oregon or Florida State as my main team. With all the new added features along with the overall improved gaming experience this title is definitely worth a try. Although I skipped out on last years’ installment, I’m making sure that I have this game in my hands, Day 1 of the release.
