Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving is the cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2K18.

The announcement comes as Irving prepares to defend his NBA title against the Golden State Warriors. Irving was the number one overall pick in 2011 coming out of Duke. He won the Rookie of the Year Award and has gone on to be named to four All-Star teams. Since LeBron James joined the Cavaliers in 2014, Irving has made three straight trips to the NBA Finals. During his time in the NBA, Irving has become one of the league’s most prolific one-on-one scorers.

In a press release, Irving noted that he plays NBA 2K and is excited to be on the cover. “It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall,” said Irving in the release. While this is Irving’s first appearance on the cover of NBA 2K, he was featured on EA’s NBA Live 14.

In addition to announcing the cover athlete, Take Two also went over the other features in the standard edition. According to the press release, it includes:

  • 5,000 Virtual Currency
  • 10 Weekly MyTEAM Packs
  • Kyrie Outfit Pack
  • And more!

NBA 2K18 launches on September 19 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can check out the full cover art below. Players who pre-order will gain access to the game four days early, beginning on September 15. Take Two announced earlier that the Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold will feature Shaquille O’Neal on the cover.
