Even for professional athletes, for whom seeing their name and likeness on merchandise is as regular as waking up, it’s a big deal to be the cover athlete for a major game franchise. NBA 2K15 has just announced this year’s, revealing Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and recipient of the 2014 Kia NBA MVP award. Durant is happy with the news, tweeting the announcement himself earlier today.

Joining Kevin Durant on the cover will be Pharrell Williams, who is this year’s music curator. Not to be confused with a composer, Williams will be in charge of selecting the music tracks that make it into the game. You might recognize his name as the artist behind “Happy,” the cheerful radio hit that I can’t get out of my head, despite only knowing three words.
NBA 2K15 will release October 7 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. For the latest on the game as it nears release, stay plugged into The Game Fanatics.
