MX vs ATV: Alive

Road Rash Much?

The next MX vs ATV is only a month away, and its getting brutal out there. Since the last game (reflex), they have added a few features which Ensures you become a mobile jerk.

The game now taking a leaf out of Road Rash’s Book, is now allowing High Speed Violence. You can now Bump, Elbow and and Smash into other riders. The new aggressive style of racing being called Bar-to-Bar, for self explanatory reasons.

What this mainly does, is takes the annoyances of Reflex. For instance; being landed on, pummeled into or Rag-doll superman’d. Then allows you to do them all and more, on Purpose. Creating a new round of violent competition and humorous friendly beatings. They even give Achievements for it.

Its Beats the Hell outta normal bike games….Literally

A lot of people wont like this idea, thinking that it’ll create too many ‘Online Assholes’ (Pardon my French). But what there not seeing, is that you have equal opportunity to join in. You can just as easily elbow your friends in the face, and what they realistically fly into a hay bale. There’s no Greater joy (next to doing this in real life) then being allowed to physically humiliate your friends, whilst doing 60Mph over a Ill Jump.

However the game hasn’t only bumped up the Physical contact, its also gave the Graphics a good Jolt. Compared to the last game, the graphics have increased 4-fold. Its less blocky, the physics seem more realistic. Even the lighting and mud splatter looks better. But if you really want to see the difference, look at the facial animation of the starter girls. Comparing that of Reflex to Alive.

Naturally with most racing games, with every installment there’s a bunch of new vehicles. Well, Alive is no different. It will still feature; motocross bikes, quad bikes, ATV’s, buggies, trucks and Super Trucks. But there will be much broader choices in all the categories, and hopefully they all have different stats.

So this game is looking like a huge improvement, and there’s one final cherry on the cake. The price! The game is starting at $38.99 (£24.45) RRP, which is pretty good these days.

MX vs ATV: Alive releases May 10th(US) & 13 May(UK)
