Most likely, by now you’ve played Modern Warfare 2-in fact chances are, you’ve pretty much aced Spec Ops, unlocked every multiplayer weapon and perks, and discovered all the secret spots in all the maps. So, you need sustenance. It’s already been confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 DLC will be out in the Spring; the only unknown is, what’s in it?
Well the good folk at Connected Console are doing what they do best; taking wild shots in the dark and hoping for the best. Here’s what they think will be included in the DLC;
Spec Ops
With most of those 69 stars swept up, you’ll be looking for something new. And seeing as this little addition was met with critical acclaim, it would be no surprise if Infinity Ward added to the collection.
- Boat Race – We’ve already got the snowmobiles, but now you and your buddy can sail away on the same river that the climactic ‘Endgame’ took place on. You’ll either be in two separate boats, or one person taking point with an assault rifle while the other drives.
- Washington DC – Surprisingly, these huge set pieces were left out of Spec Ops. The set up is simple; you and a friend storm the White House and clear it in a set time. Some variation could be made, like pushing the setting back to post-EMP typhoon, or with one player in a Vulcan, providing the thunder.
- Prisoner 627 – While the oil rig features heavily in this mode, the Gulag doesn’t, apart from a quick little run through the showers (ew). Instead, you and your blood brother assist in the large-scale assault, sniping from the helicopter, landing and clearing enemies, before heading underground.
- Invasion – One of you takes point on a minigun and the other sucker has to go by foot as you storm through the same map used in Team Player, the second mission. Objectives include waiting for the bridge to lower and shouting ‘Hoorah’ a lot.
- Blast From The Past – As ever, expect some replays of Call Of Duty 4. We’re thinking the maps from ‘No Fighting In The War Room’, ‘Charlie Don’t Surf’ or ‘Safehouse’, as they seem best suited to co-op fun.
Multiplayer Maps
You’ve played every map, on every game mode, every second of every day for weeks. Isn’t it time for something new? Just like Modern Warfare, you can safely bet your hose that new multiplayer maps will be involved.
- Oil Rig – You already know it well, but now throw 12 players on it. The focus here is on elevated gameplay – the stairs will be death-traps – and loads of little hiding spots, like the catwalk going out to sea. Great for CTF and Headquarters.
- The Gulag – I know, I know, but this is just too good to turn down. Most of the map is based on the exterior of the castle, with tense fire fights in the sections of the courtyard. The curtain walls and flanking towers provide great sniping spots, but offer little protection from the helicopters. Good for free-for-all.
- The Capitol – Oh, come on. This was made for multiplayer – the White House offers up tight indoor fighting, as well as sniper placements up top, while the trenches are great for ambushes and more long-range shooting. Superb objective games.
- The ‘Burbs – The main street will be empty. In the American suburbs, most players will choose to bunk down in one of the several houses along the side, while those poor noobs who stray onto the tarmac will get cut down. Fast. A medium-sized Team Deathmatch map.
- Retro Fun – Don’t you miss the olden days? Prefer the Call Of Duty 4 maps? Fear not – obviously, old classics will be included. Overgrown is a sure favourite, while Crossfire, Bog and Vacant could all make guest appearances. Ahh, nostalgia.
