After a small delay, Microsoft has officially announced that Minecraft will be making its way to the Xbox One as a digital download this Friday, September 5th. If you’ve never played Minecraft on the Xbox 360 before, then the addictive sandbox adventure will set you back $20. On the other hand, those who own the Xbox 360 version of the game will be able to snag it on Xbox One for only $5!
Microsoft has stated that, “All downloadable content players have purchased for the Xbox 360 Edition is available free for re-download on Xbox One.” This ensures that all the skin packs and created worlds that players have built will be accessible on eighth generation platforms, which offer a world thirty-six times larger than on the Xbox 360. With a world so large, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will support four-player local cooperative play and eight-player cooperative play over Xbox Live.
The physical copy of the game will hit shelves this holiday, but you can download a digital copy of Minecraft on the Xbox One this Friday.
