Microsoft Countdown Raises Expectations for New Console at E3

The Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, has posted an interesting E3 2013 countdown clock in his blog yesterday which only has increased rumors that a successor to the Xbox 360 will be announced by Microsoft at this year’s convention.

The post titled, “Countdown to E3 2012” looks simple enough and is added with the words “And it’s on…”, by Hyrb himself. Thus far he has offered no additional hints or slip ups as to the motive behind posting the countdown timer, so it could be just that – a countdown timer to E3. The public tends to speculate more than they should at times. Is this the case though?

The excitement for E3 2013 is already raging this year even though it’s still so early, but the generation of this excitement about E3 suggests that Hyrb know’s it’s going to be a big one for Microsoft.  Anything less than a new console is most likely going to end in disappointment, but only time will tell.

Are you hoping for a new Xbox this year at E3? More SmartGlass integration? More Xbox Live partners? Have any thoughts or speculations of your own – let us know in the comments!
