If you’re trying to decide whether to get a PS4 or an Xbox One, an announcement made last night might just nudge you in one direction or another. Hideo Kojima announced on Spike TV that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will include an exclusive mission on the PS4 that will let you play as “Classic Snake“, complete with PS1-style graphics and a throwback to the first Metal Gear Solid game.
The mission is, for now, called “Deja Vu.” Kojima also detailed to Kotaku just why Metal Gear Solid V is split into two parts (Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain) by explaining that technically, Ground Zeroes wasn’t even supposed to be a next-gen release at first:
“Honestly, I really wanted to release Ground Zeroes right after Peace Walker, whether on PSP or PS3. But then we had development issues, some delays with Metal Gear Rising as well. And then we learned about next generation coming, so it ended up being the way it is now.”
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes hits the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 this spring, and will cost $30. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain doesn’t seem to have a solid release date yet.
