Once a year, giant robots from outer space come to earth to bond with the cadets to defend the world from aliens known as the Sharg. The underdog story has a way of connecting with an audience; in addition it brings in readers of all ages who can identify with Stanford. Sometimes falling backwards into a situation can be just what one needs to find their destiny. The journey of Stanford as he adjusts to his new role, as well as how he interacts with the other cadets is the heart of the story. After the first issue, it’s exciting to find out just how these plots evolve from here.

The decision was made to go forward with an ongoing after only one issue showing just how much confidence BOOM! Studios has in the book. Luckily for anyone wanting to jump in, you just have to grab the first issue to get caught up. The second issue hits stands on September 13th. Mech Cadet Yu is available for sale monthly at local comic book shops or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. To find your local comic shop use comicshoplocator.com.
