Rockstar has announced today their plans to support Max Payne 3 multiplayer through this fall with new maps, starting this June with the Local Justice Map Pack. This will continue through the summer and fall with the Disorganized Crime Map Pack, the Deathmatch Made In Heaven Mode Pack, the Hostage Negotiation Map Pack, New York Minute Co-Op Pack. Then the last two, Painful Memories Map Pack and the Trickle Down Economics Map Pack will follow in fall. Also, you can now pre-order the Rockstar Pass from XBox Live, the PlayStation Network, Best Buy and Gamestop. This pass will be 2400 Microsoft Points or $29.99 and will get players all the DLC, for a 35% savings (versus buying them individually).
So what do you think about this announcement? There’s really two parts to it 1) the DLC announcement and 2) the Rockstar Pass. At this point, it’s no surprise that DLC is being announced before the game is out, but I think it’s a bit bold asking gamers to shell out an additional $30 before the game is even out for a mode that nobody has played yet. And honestly, when has Max Payne been about multiplayer? The Fall of Max Payne was about a story and interesting characters. So we will see. Are you going to pre-order the Rockstar Pass?
