Mass Effect Will Not be Ported onto Nintendo Switch

Looks like playing Mass Effect on the Nintendo Switch may not be an option.

When the Nintendo Switch was announced it was promised that third party developers will be supported on the newest system.

Some third party developers however are announcing that they will not be porting games in the Switch, BioWare being one of the developers.

BioWare said it does not expect to have the Mass Effect series added as part of the Switch.

“We are not planning on it.”

This comes as a shock to many since the developers released Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U.

“We are not planning on it,” Michael Gamble, Mass Effect Andromeda Producer, explained to Stevivor in an interview. Gamble did make it clear that if there is enough demand for it on the Switch from consumers could change that decision.

When the Switch launches and if people are really pushing for Mass Effect who knows. We never want to close doors like that, Gamble said.

Last year EA indicated that it would be releasing one of its bigger games on the Switch but seems like Andromeda was not the game they were talking about.

On January 13, Nintendo will be revealing more about the Switch in a Nintendo Direct broadcast, so we may find out if the EA franchise will actually make the jump onto the new system.

In the same interview with Stevivor, Gamble said his team does not have any plans for Andromeda for Xbox’s upcoming Project Scorpio console revision.

The Switch’s rumored technical specifications seems like it would make it a challenge to run Mass Effect: Andromeda because the game is taking advantage of current generation hardware, which would explain why BioWare is not going to port the game into the Nintendo Switch.

Gamble said BioWare will talk about the PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements for the game this month or on February.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will come out in Spring 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC you can check out the trailer released just a few days ago.
