According to an image that has yet to be verified as a legitimate Nintendo Europe Newsletter, Mario Kart 8 will be released on April 2014 next year. The image was sent out as a tweet with the following caption: “Nintendo confirms the release date of Mario Kart 8: April 2014″ you can see the attached image down below in Spanish.
For our readers who do not speak or read Spanish, the image roughly translates to the following:
Pedal to the metal.
In April of 2014 Mario Kart 8 will arrive on the Wii U! The transforming vehicles will return in this title in HD, but the stakes are higher with global online multiplayer, the integration of Miiverse, and antigravity.
If the rumors are true, then that means Mario Kart 8 will be releasing a few months after the new generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles arrive. That might be a little too late for some gamers. Some may make the full transition to either Xbox or PS4 before Mario Kart 8 is playable on Wii U.
Given the recent announcement, however, Mario Kart 8 may still be early or just midway through its development cycle. So the amount of time left until its release may be justified.
If you’re a Wii U owner, do you think there will be enough titles to keep you occupied before Mario Kart 8 arrives on the Wii U? Or will you consider trading in your console in exchange for an Xbox One or PS4?
