Mario Kart 8 amiibo Functionality Revealed

Update: It seems the information was in fact an unintentional leak as the page has since been taken down.

The Mario Kart 8 official website has been updated with some info how amiibo will be incorporated into the game. So far all we know is that amiibo can be used to give your personal Mii racers your amiibo character’s outfits. The following first wave amiibo have been confirmed as compatible:

Mario
Luigi
Yoshi
Peach
Donkey Kong
Link
Kirby
Captain Falcon
Samus
Fox McCloud

For the record, that’s every first wave character but Villager and Marth. The update scheduling this feature seems to go live November 13, which likely means the new Mario Kart 8 DLC will be available at that time granting players two new cups and Link as a racer, not to mention his sweet motorcycle..

Keep in mind though this may have been an unintentional leak, as I can’t imagine Nintendo wanted this to go up the day before their recently announced surprise Nintendo Direct tomorrow, and the website layout and formatting of this new information seems broken. If this was a mistake, there may be more information still to come.
