Major Twitch Update Coming to Xbox One in March

On March 11th, Twitch will deliver an abundance of new features to the Xbox One, giving gamers and broadcasters a new and exciting way to broadcast, watch, share, and interact with one another.  Coincidentally, March 11th is also the release date for Titanfall, and we suggest that you prepare yourselves for the amount of live streams that day!  Check out the official Twitch on Xbox One trailer below:

“It’s complete integration…It’s exciting because we’ve never had the ability to broadcast from a console like this with such a deep level of integration. The concept of being able to join a broadcasters’ party is really cool, and it’s another step in the direction of interacting more closely with broadcasters.” – Emmett Shear, co-founder and CEO of Twitch

Players will be able to live game broadcast, watch any broadcast, broadcast to any device, and consume anyone’s broadcast from any device, including the PS4.  This version of the Twitch app, created specifically for the Xbox One by Twitch themselves, will allow players to interact more closely with broadcasters and vice-versa.  The update will also enable Twitch’s chat features and grant players the ability to live stream right from their couch via the Xbox One‘s Kinect camera!

“That’s a very certain type of experience…For us, we thought that was too limiting for what our fans would want. Our fans really want the full next-gen service, so that’s why we decided to take our time, do it right and have it come out in this fashion.” – Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s vice president of marketing and strategy [for Xbox]

Unfortunately for PlayStation users, there is no word on any update at this time but we can only hope that eventually PS4 gamers will receive the same features and be given the same opportunities to broadcast and interact.

The update will go live on March 11th.
