Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers Hunts Xbox One

Wizards of the Coast has released Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers for Xbox One today. The game was made available on Steam, iPad, Xbox 360, and Android earlier this summer.

Magic 2015 will cost $9.99 and clocks in at a 1.2 GB download side. In addition, the game’s Garruk’s Revenge expansion is also available on the App Store, Steam, and Google Play. The Xbox 360 release will be coming soon.

A press released also announced that with the release of the Garruk’s Revenge expansion, all cards have become available to players in the original Magic 2015 campaign, as well as new cards from the expansion, can be earned entirely through gameplay; no extra purchases required.

The story for Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers focuses on the Planeswalker Garruk Wildspeaker, a power Planeswalker who has become cursed by the mysterious Chain Veil. Reception to the game’s summer release was mixed at best; it currently holds a 60 on Metacritic. Considering how well received the paper release of the Magic 2015 Core Set was, it’s disappointing to see the video game counterpart fare poorly. Still, there is hope: the Garruk’s Revenge expansion features cards from the highly popular Shards of Alara block.

Will be enough to mend the broken hearts of Magic 2015 fans? There’s still no Two-Headed Giant mode, a decision that was unforgivable to some. Let us know if you’ll be picking up Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers in the comments or if you’ll be sticking with the physical version of the game.
