If you’re tired of Los Santos, then there’s some good news, Grand Theft Auto V fan: Liberty City is coming via the OpenIV Team
“The Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea,” the mod team said on their website. In addition, a full Q&A was posted as well. The topic of “how exactly is this legal” was (unsurprisingly) brought up. Here’s the answer:
Because Liberty City takes a lot of space and we do not have rights to distribute it as our work, we decided to make this mod as an automatic convertor that converts Liberty City from your copy of GTA IV into your copy of GTA V.
As a reminder, no mods are allowed in Grand Theft Auto Online, so if you wish to play that then it’s best to not pick up the mod upon release. If you’re itching for some more single-player in your GTA V, then this will undoubtedly up your alley. Keep in mind, too, that Rockstar hasn’t announced anything DLC related for Grand Theft Auto V in terms of a new story or campaign. Also keep in mind that they’ve announced their next big project in Red Dead Redemption 2. It could very will be possible that this is the only “story DLC” we’ll get, which would mean console owners will have to make due with Grand Theft Auto Online.
The Liberty City mod will release when it’s ready. Here’s to hoping that’s sooner rather than later.
