Lead Designer of Civilization IV Founds New Gaming Company

Soren Johnson of the Civilization IV team has started Mohawk Games, the next gaming company dedicated to making quality strategy games!

Lead designer of the legendary game series, Civilization, has created his own gaming company dedicated to bringing quality core strategy games to gamers everywhere.

The company startup places Mr. Johnson as the acting CEO of Mohawk Games and Brad Wardell as the president. The company is said to be built on gameplay first. They want to make games that people will play for years because of the level of expansion. They want the value to be exponentially larger than the sum of the product’s parts by updating the game to fit a changing market. That is, they want to make sure that their game will stand the test of time through updates and expansions.

I would say this amounts to a pretty dedicated company, and given that Civilization is a popular game in the strategy genre, this new team is lead by people who are experienced. I am personally excited to see what these guys can come up with. What about you guys? Are you excited to see what Mohawk Games has to offer?
