Kingston HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset Review | No Fluff, Just Amazing Sound

The HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset from Kingston is easily the most comfortable headsets we’ve reviewed here on The Game Fanatics.

We all know Kingston as THE company for storage and memory solutions, they have been for quite some time. Kingston teamed up with Swedish headset and peripheral manufacturer, QPAD, to produce the HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming Headset.

The first thing you’ll notice about the HyperX Cloud is that it is INCREDIBLY light and comfortable, the name “Cloud” is very well deserved. Here at the Game Fanatics, we’ve used, and reviewed a lot of headsets, and we’re utterly impressed with Kingston’s HyperX Cloud Headset.

The entire headset is obviously designed with comfort in mind, from the ultra-soft padded headband (which has really cool red stitching, and the HyperX logo embroidered on top), to the memory-foam ear cups. As a bonus, the HyperX Cloud also comes with an interchangeable set of leather-padded cups. The cups themselves are closed, and house the 53mm drivers.

The headband and ear cups are held together by really cool-looking aluminum construction, and the headset itself is really stretchy and bendable. There’s also a detachable mic and an audio control box.

I tested the HyperX Cloud with everything from movies, to music, to playing games and editing video/audio, and really put the drivers through its paces. Working at my TV studio in Houston, I edited trailers with big explosions and thick low-end whoosh-y sounds and was able to hear the low ends extremely well, without distortion or muddiness. With stings and swishes, the sounds were crisp and clear, a testament to the headset’s reproduction of the mid to high ends. What really impressed was the ability of the headset to play multi-layered tracks with ease and clarity. Games also sounded amazing, explosions and gunshots really stood out, while dialogue came through clear.

The HyperX Cloud is compatible with laptops and desktops, mobile phones, and the PS4, thanks to the splitter capable. Bundled with the splitter are an airplane adapter, extension cable, and of course the audio control box.

Long-term listening did not produce any ear fatigue, or sore neck, the superb comfort level of the HyperX Cloud is remarkable. The headset rested comfortably on my head, with just enough room around my ears to allow them to breathe. The memory foam cups almost massage my ears, and made me almost forget that I had a pair of headsets on.

Overall, the HyperX Cloud headset is one Fanatical product, and comes highly recommended by us. It’s super light, sounds amazing, and is easy on your wallet at around. You can get the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset for around 80 bucks on Amazon (you’ll notice I say $100 in the video, which was shot a little while ago).
