This is the week before one of the biggest video game conventions in the world, and already the gaming community has been shown some awesome trailers. A new trailer shown yesterday for the prologue to Kingdom Hearts 3, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (crazy long name), delivered more questions than answers. Luckily, players can get their hands on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 this December.
So what exactly does Kingdom Hearts 2.8 include for the players? Following the same pattern as previous Kingdom Hearts remastered titles, KH 2.8 has two playable games and a cinematic movie to fully prepare us for the concluding chapter.
The trailer opens up with Dream Drop Distance, the HD version of the former Nintendo 3DS exclusive. Dream Drop Distance follows Sora and his best friend Riku as the two seek to become Keyblade Masters while fighting against the forces of darkness. From there, we see Birth By Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage, which shows Aqua navigating the realm of darkness after the ending in Birth By Sleep.
Finally, we conclude the trailer with Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover. Very little is known about what Back Cover shall touch upon. What little knowledge we do know is that Back Cover explores who the “Foretellers” are, the fact that it’s connected to Unchained X (the mobile game), and it’s “the earliest parts of the series’ history.”
Dream Drop Distance and A Fragmentary Passage are the playable games included in 2.8, though Back Cover is the cinematic movie experience. Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will release in Japan and come to the West sometime in December for the PlayStation 4 console.
More information surrounding the game will surely drop during the E3 show next week.
