It’s been a while, but word has it that developer Rare’s oldschool IP, Killer Instinct , is finally being revived. It had quite the fanbase back in the day, so this news should be just what some of you were waiting for.
To give you an idea of how long it has been since the IP has seen the light of day: the series debuted on the SNES in 1995 with the console port of the original Killer Instinct, and hasn’t been seen since 1996 when Rare released Killer Instinct Gold, a special version of Killer Instinct 2, on the N64.
The N64, folks. It’s been that long (though we all know the N64 was fantastic in all ways. That should give you confidence in how awesome that game was).
Microsoft has officially stated:

This doesn’t necessarily mean that a sequel is being made. This could mean that an HD remake for XBLA is in the works. It could mean they’re making a line of lunchboxes. We’re not quite sure yet, but it’s probably something pretty neat if you were a fan of the original series.
