Iron Galaxy’s Extinction Looks Like Attack On Titan

The studio behind Xbox One’s Killer Instinct fighter is back with a new project and some players might notice some familiar inspiration. As you can see in the trailer above, the game features battles against giant ogre like creatures, which can be reminiscent of the successful Attack On Titan anime and games.

Titled Extinction, as players can expect, the game will require players to save humanity from extinction at the hands of ogres called Ravenii. The only one standing in their way is Avil, one of the world’s last Sentinels, who’s the only one with the skills to take down the seemingly endless waves of Ravenii.

Ogres will come in from both land and air and in order to successfully conquer each monstrosity, players will need to use the dynamic skill-based combat mechanic in order to dismember the enemies. Iron Galaxy promises a deep story campaign along with a plethora of side-quests to earn additional upgrades in your fight against the Ravenii armies and attempt to save as many civilians as possible. The aforementioned skillpoints can be used to develop a skill tree suited to the players’ playstyle.

Battles won’t be as simple as hitting until the enemy dies. Considering the huge height difference, players will be able to wall run and use their whip as a vault in order to reach the Ravenii’s weak points. And obviously, who says giant enemies, also implies destructible environments. The Ravenii won’t stay indifferent to your attacks; they’ll smash anything in their way to squish the puny Avil.

To prolong the fun, Iron Galaxy will include an Extinction mode. It’s basically a copy of Gears of War’s Horde Mode as players will have to face continuous horde of enemies.

Here’s what Kraig Kujawa, Game Director at Iron Galaxy, had to say about this new title:

“Extinction is absolutely relentless,” said . “We’re really happy with the fast, fluid feel of the game and we’re looking forward to showing it behind closed doors at E3.”

Derek Neal, Executive Producer at Maximum Games, adds:

“As the protagonist tasked with a huge undertaking – both in fighting enormous ogres and saving humans from disaster – each player’s experience will be varied, as the landscapes and battle situations are never identical,”
