Intel is getting ready to unveil their new line of SSD (Solid State Drives) code named “Lyndonville”. These SSD’s come in the small form factor of 2.5 inches and use the 3 Gb/s SATA interface. Intel is going to use these SSD’s to replace the current X-25-E series. The design of these SSD’s will lower the price per gigabyte and have similar endurance to that of the X-25E series. Intel is able to achieve these lower prices because of High Technology Multi-Level Cell (HET-MLC) Nand flash memory chips built on the 25 nano meter fabrication process.
