In Case You Missed It – News Roundup for the Week of September 5 – 11, 2016

Another week, another big bunch of stories to cover. Which means it’s time for In Case You Missed It!

Welcome to In Case You Missed It! We here at the Game Fanatics try our best to keep up with the news, but some stories tend to slip through the cracks. Perhaps they were a tad short for our tastes, covered an odd-ball game none of us have heard about, or popped up while we were busy with other things. It happens! So this is where yours truly pops in and saves the day. Let’s jump in to last week’s news.

In Case You Missed Talking About Deadly Premonition…

Now you’ve got your chance. Last week, Swery–the creator of the cult classic game Deadly Premonition–became a Buddhist monk. And not just a monk. He went and became a master of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism! What does this mean for his other gig as a game developer? Not much, apparently. In an interview with Gamasutra, Swery said, “Your life will be changed automatically if you learn about religion. Same for me too. But my Buddhism sect doesn’t add to the restrictions on your life. I gained a doctrine, and my mind has been enriched a little. So I am still ‘SWERY.'”

In Case You Missed the Apocalypse…

Well, perhaps you should do your research! Last week, a group of devoted WoW players found themselves in a bit of a bind. They were on the hunt for a rumored Mount when they accidentally summoned an Old God world boss named Kosumoth the Hungering. After slaying it, they were rewarded with some sweet loot. Sadly, it wasn’t the Mount they were looking for. And now we know how the world will end: with a bunch of gamers trying to find a random piece of loot that was announced in 2007.

In Case You Missed Classic Point and Click Adventures…

Thank the Russians for this news piece. A Russian hacker named Reidor managed to find Blizzard’s cancelled Warcraft Adventures, which was shelved over 18 years ago. The weird thing is that the game was practically done when it got canned. If you want to play it, I suggest you download it fast; Blizzard won’t let it go on for long.

In Case You Missed Non-Blizzard Related News…

Here’s something not-Blizzard related! The PS4 version of Fallout 4 will not be getting mod support. You may begin raging in the comments in 3…2…1…

In Case You Missed the Latest Smash Tournament…

If the prize pool is anything to go by, you didn’t miss much. Last week, Kamemushi won the 25th Umebura tournament for Super Smash Bros. Wii U. His prize? Headphones and a bag of rice. A BIG bag of rice. Like, 60-something lbs. bag of rice. Still, you’d think the dude who came in second during EVO 2016 would get some sort of cash reward.
