In Case You Missed It – Gaming News for the Week of April 3 – 9, 2017

This week was pretty hectic! How hectic you ask? Well, find out in this week’s In Case You Missed It, in 3, 2, 1…

In Case You Needed Some Sweet, Sweet Lore…

Blizzard released a new comic detailing the prelude to the King’s Row Uprising, an event that is somehow related to pushing a cart through London multiple times. You can see a lovely looking panel of it above in the header image While the comic provides plenty of character and laughs, a lot of people seem hyped for a potential Blackwatch Genji skin. Maybe it’s the proto-cyborg ninja look, the black-and-red edgelord facade, or the fact that the Shimadas seem to just have their left nipple exposed the majority of the time.

In Case You Were Wondering Why G2A Doesn’t Have Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

That’s because Gearbox ended their partnership after one heck of a turnaround. The story goes that Gearbox was going to sell a special collector’s edition of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition exclusively through G2A. Cue backlash from quite a few people, including famed games critic TotalBiscuit, that were familiar with G2A’s less-than-stellar background in credit card fraud and selling “protection policies.” Gearbox then issued a list of requirements that G2A had to comply with, all of which centered on those aforementioned issues. G2A did nothing and said nothing, so Gearbox has since ended their partnership with the distributor. And that all happened in one week!

In Case You Missed Bad News About Gamestop…

Here’s some more bad news. It looks like Gamestop has been hacked, and customers have had their credit card info stolen. According to KrebsOnSecurity, the hackers infiltrated Gamestop’s website around September 2016 and obtained the credit card info from then until February 2017. It might be worth doing a double-check if you pre-ordered anything from them during the holiday season…

In Case You Missed Hearing How Great a Developer CD Projekt Red is…

Here’s yet another reminder! CD Projekt Red (aka the developer of The Witcher games) is working on an upcoming Cyberpunk title. With that in mind, they wound up getting the word “cyberpunk” trademarked back in 2011. Unlike other developers, however, CD Projekt Red has stated that they will only use this trademark defensively. In an age where everyone seems to be throwing copyright and trademark claims everywhere, it’s nice to see that some people understand that trademarks actually have a distinct purpose: keeping people from naming two different projects the same exact thing.

In Case You Missed Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s Wonky Animations…

Bioware has gone and patched Mass Effect: Andromeda so that the animations of the characters look a little better. For reference, here’s a lovely video showing just how different the game looks now (or just how bad it was).

That’s all for this week’s In Case You Missed It! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves because we do this feature every week for your amusement. If you’d like to help us keep up with the news (and make my job a little harder!), feel free to join The Game Fanatic team!
