It’s time for another edition of In Case You Missed It, The Game Fanatics’ weekly recap of the news we didn’t get to. Apologies for running late this week, but better late than never. This week we have supervillains, big numbers and next-gen consoles.
The Joker Returns To Injustice 2
NetherRealm Studios keeps dropping trailers for Injustice 2. Last week they focused on the villains, giving us a glimpse of Darkseid as well as the Joker. This version of the character looks a little less like the iconic version and more like a cross between the Heath Ledger and Jared Leto versions. Check out the trailer and don’t forget that preregistration for the mobile version of Injustice 2 is happening right now.
PlayStation 5 Coming In 2018?
Analyst Damian Throng said “he expected Sony to release its next-generation PlayStation by the second half of 2018,” according to a Wall Street Journal report, also covered by GameSpot. Throng was the same analyst who correctly predicted the PlayStation 4 Pro and Slim models. The timing seems a bit strange, with the PS4 Pro being less than a year old and the console still selling well. However, with Microsoft’s Project Scorpio set to outpace the PS4 Pro, Sony might need new hardware to keep up.
Overwatch Is Still Going Strong
More than 30 million players have charged into Overwatch!
Thanks for grouping up with us, heroes. We couldn't ask for a better team. 💙 pic.twitter.com/j2lRsUtpnd

It’s no secret that Overwatch has been a huge hit for Blizzard: The Game Fanatics staff is still playing it regularly. Of course, it’s easy to forget just how big the game is. Blizzard confirmed last week that the game has over 30 million registered players. Overwatch was already Blizzard’s fastest game to hit 20 million registered players and shows no signs of slowing down. The game just finished its Uprising event which offered a co-op mode. An on that note, I need to go play a few rounds of Overwatch.
Check Out The First Hour Of Prey
Prey launches later this week, on May 5, but ahead of that Bethesda dropped a demo and trailer. The demo gives players the opportunity to check out the first hour of the game. Morgan Yu is forced to discover what went wrong aboard the Talos I research facility. It’s also on Morgan to make sure the Typhon threat doesn’t reach Earth. Developed by Arkane Studios, the same developer behind the Dishonored series, Prey is a reboot of the franchise. You can grab the demo on PS4 and Xbox One.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Leaked By Ratings Board
Thanks to a translation by Gematsu, we learned about Capcom’s Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. The Korean Game Rating Board rated the game for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The sequel will include the rest of the mainline Mega Man series, games seven through 10. The first collection included the first six games and was released in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and PC with a Nintendo 3DS version last year.
That covers most of the stuff we missed, but the team was also on top of some other big stuff last week. We looked at Bethesda’s E3 plans, Nintendo’s newest entry in the 2DS line, and Vivendi’s push to take control of Ubisoft. As we move closer to E3 2017 keep checking back with The Game Fanatics for all the news. And of course, we’ll always keep you covered each week In Case You Missed It!
