Spanish indie studio, Crema, has announced that Immortal Redneck will be coming to PC, Mac and Linux on April 25. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are currently planned for later this year.
So what is Immortal Redneck exactly? It’s a rogue-lite first-person shooter featuring a redneck on holiday in Egypt who has a serious accident. Upon awakening, the protagonist discovers that he’s now mummified and in a sarcophagus in ancient Egypt. From here, players need to figure out what happened. How did the protagonist survive and get transported to ancient Egypt?
To find the answers, players will have to go through three deadly pyramids. Each one is filled with monsters and bosses. The monsters have just one purpose: kill the redneck.
Each of the three massive pyramids in Immortal Redneck contains randomly generated dungeons. “[Each dungeon] has different sets of enemies and bosses, ensuring every play through is different,” said developer Crema in a press release.
According to the press release the game also features “nine playable character classes each with their own traits and characteristics” and “a complete skill tree where you can upgrade your skills.” Along the way players can unlock new classes and abilities and encounter over 50 different weapons ranging from traditional firearms to a potato launcher. Crema also implemented a mode called Twitch Quest. This special mode for streamers is integrated with the Twitch API.
Crema was founded in 2009 as a mobile app developer. The company was incorporated in 2012 as their focus shifted to mobile games. It’s previous two games Ridiculous Triathlon and Oh My Goat were featured on the Apple App Store. The developer is now focused on console and PC development.
