Well if you haven’t heard this by now, you’ve been under a huge rock because this morning IGN and Gamestop made public their official merger. Though details are still hazy, the product of combining an e-commerce site with an editorial one leaves nothing to the imagination.
We do know that GameStop will have the full use of IGN’s articles, while on the flip side IGN will benefit from the plethora of Gamestop’s e-commerce solutions. Not to mention the numbers game: GameStop has 7.2 million unique visitors, while IGN gets 28.9 million, so you decide who is benefiting from whom in this situation.
Conflict of interest much?
