How To Use the PS Eye As A Webcam

Every time I am on Skype, people ask me, “Travis, what do you use?” Well I tell them, “My Playstation Eye.” Yes it is possible to use the PS Eye for as a webcam for your computer. You can even use it as a microphone. Featured, below we are going to have some step-by-step instructions so you can get started using it.

First thing first, make sure you have your camera is unplugged. If you try to plug it up without installing the driver, it could cause come problems. Also make sure you have Windows XP or higher. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, so I can confirm it works.

Second, we are going to download the drivers. There can be found by clicking here. Once you download the file, open it and run the installation. Click Next and I Agree. After that, the program will start to download the files and install them. Don’t worry these files are completely safe, and only used to cooperate with the camera. When the files are done, you may get a warning saying these files aren’t digitally signed, just click Install this driver software anyway and you should just bypass it.

Third, you should be finished. Once you click Finished, then you can go ahead and plug in the camera. Look at the clock in your taskbar. You should see a balloon tip saying Windows is installing the driver. In a few seconds, it should say Installed driver successfully, and you will notice a new icon on your desktop. It will be called CL Eye Test. Go ahead and click it. Click camera at the top and select the PS eye.

There you have it. Probably took you about five minutes, or less. The applications that have been known to work, has been found here

If you see that you cannot use it in a certain program, go to its settings and select to use your camera. I didn’t add any pictures to install it because it is too easy to mess up. However, for some reason you still cannot install it, then follow this video:
