Houston Rockets GM, Daryl Morey, Joins MLG

Major League Gaming’s board of directors gained a new member this week by way of the NBA. The Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey joined the board to help MLG go mainstream. Morey, known as one of the first so called “geek NBA GM’s” is a known gamer and has played competitively.“As a personal fan of eSports and a competitive gamer myself, I have been closely following the growth and evolution of MLG for years,” said Daryl Morey, “MLG has the potential to be one of the biggest sports media businesses in the future. I look forward to working with the MLG team as they continue to be pioneers in the digital world.”

The co-founder and CEO of MLG, Sundance DiGiovanni had this to say about the Rockets GM, “We are incredibly excited to have Daryl join our team as we continue to build the first global, truly digital sport, His experience in the NBA, emphasis on data and technology, and passion for video games, makes him the perfect addition and we look forward to benefiting from his knowledge and success.”

 “eSports will someday be the biggest sport in the world.” Declared Morey at last years annual MIT Sloan Sports Analytic Conference which in which he co-chairs.
 “As a personal fan of eSports and a competitive gamer myself, I have been closely following the growth and evolution of MLG for years,” said Morey. “MLG has the potential to be one of the biggest sports media businesses in the future. I look forward to working with the MLG team as they continue to be pioneers in the digital world.”

Also joining MLG is Greg Chisholm, the new CFO, and Allen De La Cruz, as SVP engineering which will develop video streaming and competition platforms for the organization.
