A few years ago, I was headed to my second Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) and I ran into a video game developer from St. Louis, Missouri. He started to tell me about the game Hive Jump that he was working on. His enthusiasm for what he was working on really pulled me in. As soon as the show floor opened on that first day, I decided to head to the Graphite Lab booth to check out this game.
It was still far away from release and in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign but I had a ton of fun. It reminded me of Contra mixed with Metroid. The are and music just took me back to my early days in gaming. It originally released two years ago on the Wii U and Steam. I continued to follow the game and it has finally released on the Xbox One and Switch consoles. The game is challenging but a lot of fun. I can’t wait to check out the local co-op and unlock for skins for my jumper. This is definitely a game that you will want to check out.
