Fans of three of the earliest Hitman games, or those looking to get into the series, can enjoy them in HD in January with the release of Hitman Trilogy.Square Enix announced today that Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money will be hitting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 29, 2013, complete with an art book for the first production run, featuring “22 pieces of never before seen reinterpretations of classic Hitman moments” from each game, “all done by top artists.”
This seemed like a given once the collection’s Achievements and Trophies emerged online, and it’s been hinted at since this summer.
The Hitman series has been celebrated for its open-world gameplay and focus on stealthily taking out your targets, and all three titles in this collection have received high marks from reviewers. The timing is good, since Hitman: Absolution has been well-received and most likely acted as a jumping on point for a bunch of new fans, hence the perfect opportunity to introduce them to the earlier games in the series.
For the moment, there is no word on a possible PC release, which is odd considering it got the original releases of each game. You can pre-order the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions from Amazon right now.
