IO Interactive and Square Enix have officially pulled back the curtain on the next installment of the Hitman series, Hitman: Absolution. Confirmed to be in development in 2009, it’s been a long time coming.
Hitman: Absolution follows the cold-blooded assassin known as Agent 47 as he takes on his most dangerous contract to date. With the people he once trusted now after him, as well as the police, he finds himself in the middle of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a mission through a twisted and corrupt world.
“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy. This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world.” – Tore Blystad, game director of IO Interactive.
The game will showcase IO Interactive’s new Glacier 2 engine, which is looking to take the story of Agent 47 to new heights with a cinematic story, distinctive art direction, and a highly original game design. Hitman: Absolution will combine classic gameplay elements with new features never before seen in the franchise.
The game will be showcased at E3 in June, but check out the trailer below and click here to go to the Hitman Facebook page.
