Hi-Rez Studios looks to SMITE their console exclusivity with a new PS4 release.
MOBA’s aren’t terribly common on consoles, the heavy hitters of League of Legends and DOTA 2 gracing only the greener pastures of PC gaming. So it is understandable that there is a fair bit of flak deserved when a console release of a MOBA demands console exclusivity, as with SMITE and the Xbox One. However, in an announcement by Hi-Rez Studios, SMITE looks to be diversifying its platforms, opening its arms to the PlayStation 4.
The actual iteration of PS4 SMITE launched a closed alpha of the game on the 19th of February, and is set to move into an open beta in March of this year. PS4 players can opt into this beta through the SMITE website.
SMITE is set to launch with 5 permanently free to play gods, with free rotations of other gods occurring regularly. In addition, Hi-Rez Studios have announced the “Founders Pack” to launch alongside the beta, retailing at $29.99. This pack is promising access to “all present and future gods in SMITE” as well as 400 gems and a new skin for the Ares character.
SMITE originally launched for the PC back in 2014, and only moved onto the Xbox One last August.
