The creative minds behind the Hitman series are introducing Heroes & Generals – a mix of frontline shooter gameplay and strategic campaign management.
Thousands of real players will be able to play the game together, helping each other turn the tide of a relentless online war. They will be able to play the role of a tough soldier engaged in the ruthless first-person combat, or as a strategic officer managing the campaign on a tactical war map. This combination of gameplay will be delivered in a thrilling multiplayer battle, across various World War 2 settings.
The first-person shooter experience will see your customizable character advance in rank, resulting in you joining an elite squad of soldiers, or fighting an epic battle for a strategic bridgehead. The infantry and vehicle combat coupled with a variety of modes and missions means that there are many things to keep an avid war genre fan entertained.
The locations of the massive battles ranges from cities and factories, to airfields and war-torn countrysides. Whilst these battles are being brutally fought, resources and global strategies are managed on a tactical overview map, which is linked to the games War Server. The tactical map is where the strategic officers can decide how to manage the battlefield assets, pushing the attack where and when they see fit.
Heroes & Generals is fully playable in a browser, and still offers excellent graphics thanks to the Retox engine built by Reto-Moto. The game is being described as a ‘Mass Participation Game’, which is a nice way of saying ‘loads of people can play, and blow each other up’.
