Hearthstone Gets Fresh Air With Whispers of the Old Gods, its Latest Expansion

Whispers of the Old Gods

Blizzard has announced today that the latest expansion for Hearthstone, Whispers of the Old Gods, is ready to be shipped into their card game universe. It will contain 134 new cards and will arrive on April 26.

Whispers of the Old Gods is the title chosen for the latest adventure of Hearthstone. Set in a mild creepy and spooky tone, the update wants to bring all Hearthstone fans a new set of cards to refresh and update their decks. Good news is, that we do not have to wait that long because the announcement brings a very imminent release date: April 26 (Asia will get it one day later). All platforms will get it at the same time: Windows, Mac, iOs and Android tablets alike.

It is indeed a great announcement since the latest shipment of cards came in November 12 last year with The League of Explorers. Blizzard normally releases new content with a waiting interval of 4-5 months. Whispers of the Old Gods has taken a little bit longer to arrive – so naturally some avid card collectors were already climbing up their walls.

Blizzard is also taking the opportunity to bring a deal on their website. Players can purchase 50 expansion packs for $50 although the cards can only be played once the expansion arrives. The deal finishes this April 26.

What are Those Old Gods All About?

Whispers of the Old Gods promises great doses of darkness and corruption over the tavern gaming table. As the name indicates, the main protagonists are the figures of the Old Gods which are experiencing an upcoming awakening with more than 134 new examples of tentacles, fishy eyes and deadly combinations. Four of the best cards in this expansion are those Old Gods, which will become stronger if you play their followers or minions in the same deck.

We will also have corrupted versions of old favorite cards in the game and Blizzard has confirmed that there will be Standard and Wild modes. Wild will be your choice if you do not mind get into a battle that uses every single card from every expansion since Hearthstone official release. For a more nostalgic touch, the Standard mode will suffice since it will suffle cards from the older sets only.

If you are curious to know more, Blizzard will host a streaming event on Twitch this April 21 at 10:00 AM PDT with lead designer Ben Brode, so make sure to tune in to get a sneak preview of more card from the new set.
