Heads Up, Cyberpunk 2077 Contains Epilepsy Risks

According to a writer at Gameinformer, Cyberpunk 2077 has some serious issues with epilepsy. One particular scene in the game where the main character puts on a headset caused a grand mal seizure in the writer. They report that they are okay, but it appears that the game contains many scenes that can cause seizures in people with epilepsy. This information exploded across the internet today after the writer published an article discussing their seizure and detailing safe ways for people with epilepsy to play Cyberpunk 2077.

If you or your family has had a history of epilepsy, I strongly recommend that you read this article and educate yourself on the specific risks that you may take while playing the game: Cyberpunk 2077 Epileptic PSA.

Thankfully, the developers are aware of this article and have stated they are looking into the issues outlined. While it is good news that the developers reacted so quickly, it is deplorable that this had to happen. Since CD Projekt Red is such a large company and Cyberpunk 2077 has been such a highly anticipated game, they should have known better. The scene that caused the writer’s seizure features a device that appears to have been designed to mimic the technology doctors use to induce seizures. It is simply inexcusable that this made it into Cyberpunk 2077. Hopefully the developers fix the situation rapidly. Many more people are afflicted with epilepsy than most people realize. It is past time more awareness is brought to this issue in the gaming community.
