HBO Go Finally Makes Its Way To Xbox One

The Khaleesi was extremely upset. She frantically ran through the city of Qarth with one thing on her mind. This was an urgent matter; nothing else rivaled its importance: where is her HBO Go on Xbox One?

Finally, an answer can be given as HBO announced that their app is finally available on the Xbox One console. HBO subscribers can stream their favorite shows with the wonders of Kinect, because when you think of HBO, you think of voice navigation.

It should be noted that HBO will soon launch a standalone subscription service through HBO Go sometime next year. This will most likely coincide with the premiere of the newest season of Game of Thrones.

“Xbox is one of our subscribers’ favorite ways to access HBO GO and its incredible breadth of award-winning programming,” said Jeff Dallesandro, Vice President, Digital Domestic Network Distribution, HBO. “Now, Xbox One users can get in on the action and Kinect with the very best HBO series and films on this innovative, state-of-the-art device.”

Keep in mind that there is some fine print when it comes to the service: authentication with a TV provider is needed. Here’s the full disclaimer from the Xbox website:

Authentication required; not all HBO subscribers can authenticate as availability is based on the carriers in your area. The following is a list of TV providers that authenticate HBO GO on Xbox One: AT&T, Bend Broadband, Blue Ridge Communications, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast’s Xfinity, Cox, DIRECTV, Dish, Grande Communications, HTC Digital Cable, Massillon Cable/Clear Picture, Mediacom, Midcontinent Communications, RCN, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, Verizon, and Wow!

Now if only I can get an all new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Come on, Larry David. HBO is waiting for you.
