Today is a very special day for myself and a lot of blue hedgehog lovers. Today is Sonic’s 20th anniversary since his birth back 20 years ago in June, 23, 1991. Since 1991, Sonic has embarked on a lot of adventures and till this day he still does. Check out the pictures below of the blue hedgehog as he leaves his mark in history.
This is from the blue hedgehog’s first debut Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Genesis. This game marked the lives of a lot of children, adults, & even elder people. One word for this game “Classic.”
This is the 1994 classic Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. My favorite of all Sonic titles is this one because not only was the gameplay so fast and exciting and unique from the other two, but the music is so fitting & “hip hopish.” This game made me fall in love with the franchise forever and ever.
This is Sonic’s second debut to 3D graphics. His 1998 smash hit title Sonic Adventure. This game really put Sonic on the map for new generation graphics with the Sega Dreamcast. This game puts the A in adventure with character selection of over 5 Sonic stars to choose from, and many many goals to achieve plus secrets.
Last but not least is Sonic’s first title introduced to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming consoles. The long awaited Sonic the Hedgehog was released in 2006. Not only did this game star the blue hedgehog, but it brought back the black hedgehog shadow from Sonic Adventure 2 and debuted it’s new character Silver the hedgehog with telekinesis powers. This is not my favorite but its still a good title.
As you can see, Sonic has embarked on many adventures plus more that were not mentioned above. I don’t know what Sonic means to you, but to me he means a lot. As a kid born 4 months after Sonic in 1991, and feeling like I basically grew up with Sonic…he is a big part of me. Saying he is my childhood hero is an understatement, the blue hedgehog was something like a major inspiration for me to continue gaming. So I’m ending this post with happy 20th birthday Sonic and I wish you many more years of success.
