Gaming laptops are a dime a dozen these days, but one company has been consistently pushing out great products for game fanatics, and that is Lenovo. The world’s largest PC manufacturer stepped into the gaming laptop space a few years ago with the Lenovo Y580 laptop, a laptop that we gave 4 out of 5 stars and is still one of the best gaming laptops we’ve reviewed.
At CES 2014, Lenovo unveiled its next generation laptop for gamers, the Lenovo Y50. Being a longtime power user of Lenovo’s Y Series of laptops, I made it a point to get my hands on the laptop.
Similar to other Y Series laptops, the Y50 comes with an eye-catching red-backlit keyboard and sexy angled speakers. Closing the laptop you’d also see the sleek edges on the wings of the laptop.
One major change is the addition of a touch screen, a 10-point multitouch display to be exact a display that boasts Quad HD visuals (that’s 3840×2160 pixels). The Y50 also comes bundled with Lenovo’s Voice Control software, allowing you to use voice commands to perform tasks on your laptop.
Under the hood, the Lenovo Y50 comes with the 4th generation i7 processor and a GeForce GTX graphics card. You’ll also be able to multitask like no other with its 16GB of DDR3 RAM along with a 1TB hard drive.
Lenovo’s Y50 laptop is also the lightest Y Series laptop to date, weighing in at 5.7 pounds, which puts in on the lighter end of the gaming laptop spectrum.
We have no firm release date for the Lenovo Y50, but be sure to check around (and follow us on Twitter as we’ll most likely tweet or retweet about it).
