Two months ago, there was a surprise announcement that Halo: Spartan Strike would be coming to Windows devices and PC in early December. Unfortunately, 343 Industries‘ and Vanguard Games‘ top-down shooter has now been delayed into early 2015.
Touted as a spiritual successor to Halo: Spartan Assault, Halo: Spartan Strike is set around the city of New Mombasa during the events of Halo 2. The twin-stick, top-down shooter features some new abilities, vehicles, enemies, and even online leaderboards and unique awardables towards Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
In one of the studio’s most recent blog posts on Halo Waypoint, the developer noted that “Earlier this year, we announced Halo: Spartan Strike, our latest touch-based top-down shooter for Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Steam, will be available on Dec. 12.”
“While we’re excited about this all-new Halo experience, our commitment to resolving the current matchmaking issues in Halo: The Master Chief Collection remains the top priority. As a result, we have decided to move the release of Halo: Spartan Strike to early 2015.”
The developer closed the announcement saying that, “We can’t wait to show you more of Halo: Spartan Strike early next year.”
While this bit of news brings with it a slight feeling of disappointment, fans of the series will be content in knowing that Halo: The Master Chief Collection remains the studio’s top-most priority for the weeks to come.
