The developers over at 343 Industries and Vanguard Games have recently announced Halo: Spartan Assault, an action packed, single player campaign that throws you into an all new Halo experience from a top down camera view.
Spartan Assault takes place between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4 and begins a new chapter in the Halo Universe that digs deeper into the first missions of the Spartan Ops program and dives even deeper into the back story of the Human–Covenant wars. As the player, we’ll be able to look through the eyes of Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis (the yellow Spartan) aboard the UNSC Infinity as they fight toe to toe in never before seen battles against the Covenant.
Sarah Palmer has gotten a lot of mixed feelings throughout the Halo community. The community either dislikes her or loves her. For myself, being able to learn more about her character outside of Halo 4’s campaign and Spartan Ops brings me happiness. Right from the get-go I’ve wanted to know more about this character and with Spartan Assault, that’ll happen.
Halo: Spartan Assault will feature 25 brand new missions never before experienced in the Halo Universe. The story takes place in between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4 during the earlier missions of the Spartan Ops Program and the rise of Commander Sarah Palmer.
Since Spartan Assault is built for Windows 8 PCs, Tablets and phones, it’s built for simplicity. The unique combination of touch and console-like controls make it easy to pick up and jump right into the action without much hassle. For players on the Windows 8 PC and even tablets, the addition of a keyboard and mouse make things even more fun and intuitive – Making it easier for a newcomer or veteran to the Halo franchise to play along.
Another awesome feature for those that are completionists (*Cough* Me *Cough*), Spartan Assault will feature experience points, all new Achievements, unlockable emblems for your Halo 4 career, and even additional features that will be available after launch.
Aside from the Single player campaign, players will be able to compete against friends in Leaderboards or hone their skills in an onslaught of Weekly Challenges while collecting more than 40 in game Achievements and Medals.
Spartan Assault will also feature the option to purchase credits for boosts, unique weapons and armor abilities if you don’t want to grind for your rewards.
Halo: Spartan Assault will only be available for Windows 8 PCs, Tablets and Windows Phone 8 devices.
