Halo Master Chief Collection Servers Are, Sadly, Having Issues

If you’re hoping to get in some Halo Master Chief Collection multiplayer in today, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.

As is the unfortunate case with video game releases these days, it seems that the game’s multiplayer isn’t fully operational. Searching for matches is, at times, a hopeless endeavor. Even when you do find a party, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get to play a game.

Microsoft is aware of the issues and has released the following statement:

We are aware of the issues players have been experiencing with matchmaking and we’re working around the clock, alongside the Xbox Live team, to improve the situation. We have deployed an update that has shown some improvement, and we continue to optimize the experience. The update deployed to matchmaking was done on the server side and does not require an extra download to your Xbox One. This is our top priority and will keep everyone updated regularly as we deploy continued improvements.

I’ve spent the entire time writing this post trying to find a multiplayer match. No luck. Sad days. At least I have four campaigns to play, right? Still, it’s disappointing due to the fact that part of the appeal of the Halo Master Chief Collection is being able to play through beloved classic maps in Halo 2 over Xbox Live once again.

For what it’s worth, there’s a read over in r/Halo discussing the state of matchmaking. You can stay tuned to both that thread and Halo Waypoint for updates.
