Halo fans rejoice! Halo 5: Guardians much anticipated multiplayer Beta is available today for those who have purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Also announced today, fans can pre-order their choice of three editions of the game:
- The Standard Edition – retails for the standard price of $59.99 and will come with the game and a poster that will only be available to those who pre-order.
- The Limited Edition – comes with “exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book” as well as a poster for $99.99.
- The Limited Collectors Editions (for true Halo Fanatics)- will include the poster, DLC, and a “commemorative, numbered statue designed by 343 Industries”. Details about the statue will be announced later but don’t let that stop you from dropping $249.99.
The beta will pit competitors against each other in 4v4 arena multiplayer. The multiplayer beta will include seven different maps, three game types, and run at 60 frames-per-second. Players will able to unlock exclusive content – a variety of different armor sets – that can only be gained from participating in the beta. Everything players unlock during the multiplayer beta will be carried over into the full game when it launches.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was plagued with matchmaking problems for nearly six weeks. It will be interesting to see if that will affect pre-orders of the latest game in the Halo franchise. Hopefully this beta will go a long way in resolving online issues before launch.
Halo 5: Guardians, “continues the story of Master Chief, and introduces a brand new central character to the Halo universe – Spartan Locke” who must track down the missing Master Chief.
