There’s been a Halo 4 matchmaking update. Grifball is back baby!
Today, 343 Industries has dropped a new Matchmaking Playlist Update for everyone to get their greasy hands on. Spartan Ops continues with episode 7, which contains 5 brand new missions. Also, premiering for the first time in Halo 4 is the Grifball playlist! 343i has worked closely with GrifballHub to create several different experiences in this new playlist.
What is Grifball?
Grifball is, without a doubt, the most legendary online sport ever created. The game type was first created by Burnie Burns of Rooster Teeth back in the days of Halo 3, where it gained an online following and quickly became one of the most popular custom game types in the history of Halo Multiplayer. It features two teams of four, who are equipped with Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords. These teams spawn facing one another in a large court like arena. In the center of the Grifball court lays the ball, or bomb. Teams rush towards the bomb in an overall effort to plant it at their enemies spawn. It’s not a complicated game to get used to at all. I’ve personally spent hours playing Grifball. Excitement doesn’t begin to tell you how I feel about this being added to the playlists.

Also today, the release of two new Specializations have been unlocked for the community: Engineer and Stalker.
- Engineer: Spartan optimization for the subversion, repair and reconstitution of a wide range of technology, including Covenant and Forerunner complex networks. The Drop Recon Armor Mod allows users to predict the location and time of an Ordnance Drop through an external suborbital monitoring system.

(Neither of these two armor mods I use. Just sayin’.)
Also, I’m glad for those of you who are major competitive players. If you haven’t seen yet, the 343 War Games team has been hard at work for players like us on new playlist content, DLC maps, and other goods. Some updates coming out before the DLC is going to be pretty amazing.
CSR – Competitive Skill Rank
343 Industries has been working closely with several internal teams on making sure the integration of a CSR is being doing and view-able on your Waypoint profile, online, phone and tablet. Each player will have a unique CSR visible per playlist. Whatever your highest CSR is across all playlists will be what’s showing on Halo Waypoint. CSR is going to use the 1 to 50 scale and when it does go live, we’re ALL making a fresh start.
