Gran Turismo 6 May Have Future on PS4

With Gran Turismo 6’s inevitable announcement earlier this week many weren’t surprised about the reveal for the PS3 –many saw this coming– but were confused by the absolute lack of a PS4 mention.

The release window of this Holiday season would have put Polyphony Digital and Sony in a position to potentially bundle Gran Turismo 6 and the PS4, assumably moving a great amount of units at or near launch.

GT6 on PS4?
Gran Turismo 6 would make the PS4 sell like hot cakes.

That plan, of course, is more ideal and profitable for Sony than Polyphony when the PS3 has sold approximately 77 million units sold as of January, but have no fear future PS4 owners for there may be hope.

In an interview with IGN, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that there are plans for Sony’s next generation console, “We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

Yamuchi also adds, “I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.”

Although it has yet to be determined if Polyphony has started work on porting their new title to the PlayStation 4, the best case scenario seems to be that if PS4 sells well and there is enough demand for a PS4 version of GT6 we could see a GT6 Part 2, perhaps Gran Turismo 6: Epilogue.

Can you imagine this on PS4?

Gran Turismo 6 is set for its PS3 release this Holiday season with a demo available on the PSN this July.

Check out the announcement trailer below and while you’re down there let us know if you’d rather just have Gran Turismo 6 on the PS4 or if you’re willing to wait for GT7!
